Esmé Hall
owner/head tattooist

From a very early age Esmé showed an affinity for body art. Spending hours with a set of water colors and two little sisters as canvases, she started on her path as a tattooist without even knowing it.  Through the years the pull towards this ancient art form grew stronger.  It was in 1994, while attending the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston that Esme picked up her first tattoo machines and began experimenting with ink and needles. Soon she became immersed in studying the history, culture, and art of tattoo.     In 2003 she undertook an apprenticeship at Body Art Montpelier and obtained her tattooists license.  Through her dedication to artistic expression, education, and communication she has become an advocate for the greater vitality and development of the extended community.

                                          Colleen "flannie" Flanagan
Tattooist

Flannie is a native of East Hartford, CT and moved to Vermont in 1997. She then attended Goddard College and received her BA in Alternative Education in 2006. Flannie has been immersed in the art world for what seems like forever. She is constantly exploring new mediums and currently crazy about graffiti art and tattoos.  Flannie describes her style as 'urban illustrative fresh'. Newly licensed, she is available for design work, tattoos and consultation, Wed, Thurs & Fri. Flannie's art and tattoos can been seen on the Venus FaceBook fan page.

                                                     Sheana Benoit
Year two Apprentice

Sheana was born and raised in central Vermont. For as long as she can remember, she has had a strong desire to express herself through a variety of creative mediums - either through painting, sculpture, sewing or dance. Being a multimedia artist has nurtured in her a quiet ambition to surround herself with beauty in all it's forms. As a "self taught" artist, challenging herself has been an important part of her evolution, as an artist and as an individual. Her love of travel, the exotic and the antique are a constant inspiration. Sheana fuses anthropology, mythology and imagination in everything that she creates. Tattooing has been the newest and most exhilarating medium for her to date.
Challenge her, let her play and the perfectionist in her will create something completely custom for you!

Andrew Foster
Year one Apprentice

Andrew grew up in the frigid and sweltering climate of St. Paul, Minnesota. There he attended the Minnesota Center for Arts Education (a high school now known as the Perpich Center for Arts Education), before thoroughly flunking out of Minneapolis College of Art and Design, to the battle cry "I hate and will never do graphic design!".  After a decade long hiatus from creating art to pursue his dream of becoming a grumpy cook, Andrew took up art once more with joy and vigor (as a graphic designer) creating logos for several local VT businesses and posters for awesome events. Design elements combined with comic-book stylings laid a path towards one of the most challenging aspects of drawing: tattooing.
He is too stupid to show any fear while inking, so come one and come all to get some ink before Andrew is too big and famous and when only junkie rock stars can afford to sit in his chair.
Please check out Andrews art and tattoos on the Venus Tattoos Fan page on FaceBook.

Benedict 'Ben' Shadis
 Year one Apprentice

Ben has recently moved back to Vermont to pursue a highly coveted apprenticeship at Venus. He is commonly found drawing brightly colored skulls on scrap paper and eating egg drop soup. Ben has an uncanny knack for knowing just when to show up and get things done. He is profoundly excited to design and create tattoos for you as he embarks on his new career as a tattooist.

Joel Chaves
Assistant extraordinaire!

Joel is our fabulous assistant. You may recognise him from his weekly appearances at Venus, where he diligently enters data into quickbooks and files client information with delft precision. He also fearlessly entertains us with his witty and astute observations on the absurdity of human behavior. Joel can also be found performing at the Black Door's monthly stand up comedy night. Check him out, he is great!

Jenn Kline
soon to be Piercer

With 10+ years of experience, Jenn (above left) is currently working on getting her piercing license with the state of Vermont. A woman of many talents, we look forward to welcoming Jenn to our diverse team of artists at Venus. We'll let you know as soon as she is set up and ready to go!

Leroy Storey-Hall
shop monkey

12 year old sensation Leroy is a fixture at Venus. This soon to be teen heartthrob is an avid D&Der, talented artist and humorist. His tattoo designs can be found adorning the bodies of several Vermont locals. Leroy had his first art exhibit at age 6, when he returned for a trip to California with a plethora of photos that were too good not to be shared with others. He can often be found with his nose buried in a good book or sitting at the reception desk at Venus answering the phone and watching reruns of "Community" on Hulu. Leroy would be happy to design a tattoo for you if you like his style.
